United States
USA Football hosts 100 annual football training events offering educations for coaches and game officials, skill development for players and resources for football league adminstrators. America's sole member of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), USA Football manages U.S. national teams within the sport for international competition. The independent non-profit offers resources and membership for football coaches, game officials and administrators. USA Football members reside in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Endowed by the NFL and NFLPA through the NFL Youth Football Fund, USA Football is chaired by former U.S. Congressman and professional quarterback Jack Kemp.
Since 2006, USA Football has trained 16,000 youth football coaches across America through one of 65 full-day coaching schools and its Certified Coaching Education Program (C.C.E.P.), a two-hour online curriculum incorporating computer animation and chapter quizzes to strengthen comprehension. By educating 16,000 coaches on proper fundamental and communication techniques, approximately 350,000 youngsters have benefited from USA Football’s coaching programs.
USA Football has been commissioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), based in Indianapolis, to create an online varsity football coaching education course that will be available to high school football coaches across the country. The first of many upcoming joint ventures between the two organizations, this course is the first of its kind for football, the most popular sport played by high school boys by more than a two-to-one margin.
USA Football assembles America’s national teams in the sport for international competitions conducted by football’s international federation (IFAF). In 2007 the US senior national team won the third IFAF World Championship, played in Japan, by beating the host nation in overtime.
USA Football also is responsible for 40 nationwide state meetings of youth football administrators to share best practices; 20 officiating camps and seminars across the country to educate and recruit football officials; 10 multi-day player camps held in major U.S. cities to foster player development (ages 9-14); distribution of $500,000 in equipment grants for youth football leagues, based on merit and need; distribution of $500,000 in volunteer youth football coach and volunteer background check subsidies.
The organization created the USA Football Youth Football Rule Book & National Playing Standard, unifying the youth game and authored exclusive and innovative youth football-related research to further strengthen the game’s future.
More than two-dozen NFL franchises, several Arena Football League teams and college football programs presently partner with USA Football for its training events.
USA Football also enjoys strong working relationships with the American Football Coaches Association (A.F.C.A.); the Boys & Girls Clubs of America; the National Association of Police Athletic Leagues (P.A.L.); the National Recreation and Park Association (N.R.P.A.); the Professional Football Players Mothers Association (PFPMA), led by Ms. Wilma McNabb; the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Sports Museum of America.
