IFAF on 10/12/2011

Cedric Febis, a 6-3, 202 pound safety from Amsterdam, is making his presence felt as a starting safety for the undefeated Boise State Broncos this season.

In just four games, Febis has collected 15 tackles including three for loss of four yards. Febis missed the first game of the season, but made up for it in his first game back against Toledo as the Broncos won 40-15. Febis finished the game with four tackles including one for the loss of a yard, forced a fumble and had a pass breakup.

In the next game, Boise State defeated Tulsa 41-21 for the Broncos third victory of the season. Febis again had a very productive game registering five tackles with one for loss of two yards. He also came up with a big interception returning the ball 26 yards and setting up the Broncos for a score.

In the win against Nevada, Febis made two tackles and in the most recent game against Fresno State he had four tackles and recovered a fumble.  Fellow Amsterdam native Geraldo Boldewijn caught two touchdown passes to give the fifth-ranked Broncos a dominate 57-7 victory against the WAC rival. He had a 4-yard and 18-yard touchdown catches and finished the game with 33 receiving yards.

As a redshirt Freshman in 2008, Febis played in seven games for Broncos primarily on special teams and registered four tackles. In 2009, he played in all 14 games collecting 23 tackles and a season-high five tackles against Hawai'i. Last season, Febis was a reserve safety and saw action in 12 regular-season games. He recorded 27 tackles and was named the team's Special Teams Player of the Year award.

Febis played his senior year of high school football at Bishop Kelly in Idaho. He was named second-team all-state and first-team All-Southern Idaho Conference after helping Bishop Kelly to a 12-0 record and state championship. He finished with 51 tackles, two interceptions and six pass break-ups. Prior to arriving in Idaho, Febis played two seasons of club football in Holland.

Cedric Febis' American Football journey is a great success story and one that is far from over. His hard work and dedication has gotten him where he is today; from playing American Football in Holland to a starting position for Boise State - a top 10 football program in the Division I football.

The International Federation of American Football would like to acknowledge Cedric Febis's accomplishments and wish him the best of luck in the rest of his senior year and future football career.

And to honor his accomplishments IFAF named Cedric Febis the IFAF.org September 2011 Player of the Month.
