The Federación Mexicana de Futbol Americano (FMFA) held a press conference on Friday for the country's two representative of the World team that will take on Team USA in South Florida on January 30.

Linebacker Jovanni Carrillo of the Águilas Blancas del IPN will be representing Mexico in the game, while Salomon Solano, a former player with the Correcaminos de la Autónoma de Tamaulipas, NFL Europe's Rhein Fire and the Baltimore Ravens practice squad will be the  team's defensive line coach.

"It's the first time ever that Mexico is represented in a top level game such as this one," said Jorge Orobio, president of the FMFA.  "The FMFA wants to promote the national player selected to play in the game and this year we will organize a lot of initiatives to develop both players and coaches because we want to raise the level of American Football across the world."

Linebacker Carrillo said: "It's an honor to represent Mexico and an additional motivation to keep on getting ready. This is a great opportunity to show that the American football in Mexico has grown and we are seeing the results. Although I'm the only player selected, I think that our overall level is raising."

Defensive line coach Salano added: "I agreed to take part in this game as a coach to return to Mexico what Mexico has given me. Being a coach means to teach others what I learned, to contribute to the development of the American football in Mexico."

The FMFA said that one of the goals of Mexico, being a strong federation member of IFAF, is to focus on the internal work with the national teams in order to establish the potential of the players of the country so they can reach the top level of playing.
