When the 2009 NCAA College Football season kicked off there were more than 200 international players participating in games across the United States.

Players representing long-established IFAF countries such as Canada, Germany and Japan are joined by players from emerging football nations including Chile, Honduras and Venezuela in being represented among the college football ranks.

Some of college football’s most recognizable names – Florida, Hawaii, Michigan and Texas – include international players on their rosters, as do Division III colleges whose recruiting net has been spread far and wide.

A total of 42 countries have representation on college football rosters across the U.S., so when people ask if American Football is becoming a truly global sport, they only have to look in the direction of NCAA football to discover the answer.
