Fujitz Frontiers from Tokyo, Japan claimed the fifth Korea-Japan youth flag football championship held in Daegu, Korea.  The Frontiers scored five touchdowns against the Ewoo Middle School from Seoul, Korea in the final game as they cruised to a 32-18 victory.


Frontiers Morimoto Kosuke was selected as the tournament MVP as he scored four touchdowns during the championship game.

Fujitz Frontiers overpowered both Kyungil Middle School and Ewoo Middle School during the preliminary round winning 39-19 and 28-14 respectively.  The Frontiers advanced to semifinal as they shut out the Seongseo Middle School 27-0 to easily reach the championship game.

 

Three Japanese teams participated in the tournament - Fujitz Frontiers (Tokyo), Ezjikasan Middle School (Kyushu) and Musle Nagaito (Kyushu). The tournament also featured three teams from Korea; Ewoo Middle School from Seoul and two local teams from Daegu the Seongseo and Kyungil Middle Schools to round out this year’s competition.  


The Japan-Korean youth flag football tournament is not only confined to football competition, but is also about the cultural exchange and friendships developed during the competition. The competition is held every two years and both the Korean and Japanese federations are in discussions to develop the competition into the Asia Youth Flag Football Championship in the near future.
