World Team Defensive Coordinator Warren Craney during the 2011 USA Football International Bowl
The IFAF World Team completed its final day of two-a-days on Monday at Westlake High School in advance of the 2012 International Bowl match-up with Team USA on Wednesday night.
Both the offensive and defensive units put the finishing touches on the game plan they will use against Team USA. World Team Defensive Coordinator Warren Craney is pleased with the work his players have put in this week.
"I'm pretty happy. We've put in everything we wanted to put in and the guys are starting to gel, " Craney said. "We were a little worried we threw a little too much at them the first couple of days but with our preparations and meeting time at night it's really come together and we're where we want to be."
Craney singled out Eli Anoku (American Samoa), Daryl Waud (Canada) and Sergio Schaffino (Mexico) as players who have impressed for different reasons this week.
"Eli Ankou has surprised me. I knew he was going to UCLA and knew he was going to be good but he's unbelievable. Daryl Waud has impressed me. Sergio Schaffino had a slow start but he's really turned up the heat today. "
Craney, in his third year working with the World Team, says that this year's squad is different than the first two.
"They've all been different in little subtle ways but this year is a quieter team. We've had more vocal leadership in the past. Not that the leadership isn't there but it's coming from different areas. They're demonstrating it on the field rather than jumping around and high-fiving each other."
